Privacy Policy

Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains what information BagCheck Baby collects, why we collect it, and how it's used. We keep things simple and only collect what we genuinely need to make the app work for you.

1. What Data We Collect

Account information

When you sign up, we collect your name and email address. This is handled by Clerk (our authentication provider). We do not store your password — Clerk manages authentication securely on our behalf.

Child profiles

You can create profiles for your children (e.g. name, age range). This information is stored in our database and is used solely to personalise the checklists we generate for you. We do not share this information with third parties.

Outing details and generated checklists

When you create a checklist, you provide details about the outing (destination type, duration, weather, etc.). This information — along with the generated checklist — is stored in your account history so you can access it later.

Payment information

Payments are processed by Paddle. We do not store or have access to your full card number or bank details. Paddle provides us with billing status and transaction IDs so we can manage your subscription and credit balance.

Usage data

We may collect basic usage data (e.g. pages visited, features used) to help us improve the app. This data is aggregated and does not personally identify you.

2. How We Use Your Data

  • To provide the service: Your profile and outing details are used to generate personalised packing checklists via AI.
  • To manage your account: We use your email to send account-related communications (e.g. receipts, password resets). We do not send marketing emails without your consent.
  • To process payments: Billing and credit management is handled through Paddle's platform.
  • To improve the app: Aggregated, anonymised usage data helps us understand how people use BagCheck Baby and where we can make it better.

3. Third-Party Services

BagCheck Baby uses the following third-party services to operate:

Clerk — Authentication

Clerk handles user registration, login, and session management. Your email and account details are stored in Clerk's infrastructure. See Clerk's Privacy Policy.

OpenAI / Anthropic — AI Generation

When you generate a checklist, your outing details are sent to an AI provider (OpenAI or Anthropic) to produce the list. We send only what's needed — no names, no account details. AI providers may use submitted data in accordance with their own policies.

Paddle — Payments

Paddle is our Merchant of Record. They handle all payment processing, VAT, and billing compliance. We receive only what we need to manage your subscription. See Paddle's Privacy Policy.

4. Data Retention & Deletion

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will remove your profile, child profiles, and checklist history from our systems within 30 days. Some data may be retained for legal or accounting purposes as required by law.

You can request a copy of your data or ask us to delete it at any time by emailing hello@bagcheckbaby.com.

5. Cookies

We use cookies to keep you logged in (session cookies managed by Clerk). We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, though doing so may affect how the app works.

6. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data, or to object to how we process it. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at hello@bagcheckbaby.com and we'll respond within 30 days.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We'll notify you of significant changes via email or an in-app notice. Continued use of BagCheck Baby after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
